Who we are
The Wellington Girls’ College Parents' Support Group (the PSG) is an incorporated society and registered charity: see Charities Commission for our summary page.
Our aims are to help parents/caregivers be informed and involved in the education of their children, to provide a link between them and the school, to raise funds which help provide improved facilities and to assist the school with the running of functions and seminars.

What we do
We provide opportunities for you as parents and caregivers to help yourselves, your daughters and the school through involvement with PSG activities, according to your interests and schedules.
You can get involved in a number of ways:
• attending seminars
• sending a plate for functions
• buying, selling or donating used uniforms
• assisting with uniform sales, Quiz Night or other fundraisers
• joining the PSG committee to help plan and organise activities.
Secondhand Uniform Shop
This is a service to parents and an important source of funds for donation to the school. We accept good quality uniforms to sell on behalf of parents, returning 70% of the purchase price to the parent for items sold within a year and retaining a 30% commission. Parents can also choose to donate uniforms, allowing the full sale price to be retained. Buying good quality used uniforms allows you to benefit directly from the lower prices, in addition to helping the school and other parents. Uniform sales are held 3-4 times each year. Upcoming sales will be advertised in the Bulletin and on the front page of the Website under News. Cash or cheque only (no Eftpos facility). Please see below for further Secondhand Uniform information and the Secondhand Uniform Sales form.
Fundraising
In 2010 we held our first, very successful Quiz Night as both a fundraiser and a wider community event. Planning is underway for the second annual Quiz Night in August.
Seminars and Social Functions
We organise seminars to help parents learn more about the school and topics such as Cyberbullying, Parenting Teenagers, Alcohol, and Stress/Anxiety/Depression. We host a Christmas morning tea to thank the school staff, put on an end-of-year lunch to recognise the Year 13 school leaders and help with catering for the Year 13 Leavers’ Cocktail Party.
Donations to Wellington Girls’ College
Funds raised by the PSG are donated to the school to provide extra equipment to benefit our daughters, such as soft furnishings for the school library in 2009 and new appliances for the upgraded TTR kitchen in 2010. Furnishing the new Atrium is a priority for 2011.
Meetings
Meetings are held at lunchtimes, and all are welcome to attend. We conduct any PSG business, hear from the Principal about current school activities and sometimes have guest speakers from the school.
Our meetings for 2011 are scheduled for Wednesday in the third week of each term in the WGC Pavilion (off Hobson Cres, by the sports field).
